Fulcrum Wind 57 DB 2WF C21 AFS wheelset

Wind 57 are designed with the aim of balancing performance and comfort, ensuring smooth handling and a versatile product. The new Wind wheels are not only suitable for road use, but also for light off-road use (ASTM 2 category of use), enhancing riding pleasure even off the busy roads. A design that meets the different declinations that are increasingly becoming established in the use of road bikes.

Wind 57 inherits from the Speed family - top of the road range in terms of performance - many of Fulcrum's proprietary technologies, to offer a superior riding feeling compared to the previous generation. Handling improves by up to +22% and reactivity by up to +10%* for a versatile and comfortable product for the modern cyclist.

Among the most evident aspects, the height of the rims increases to 57 mm with a 23 mm internal channel, while the graphics are totally new and follow the new Form Function Fulcrum stylistic canons, with an essential yet refined design that integrates all the technical product information thanks to the new iconography.

Technologies

2-Way Fit™
2-Way Fit™ profile for tubeless and clincher tyres.
Tubeless technology was adopted in the automotive sector, then in the motorbike sector and finally in cycling. After its debut in mountain biking, it is now time to 'put it on the road' by offering new types of wheels for racing bikes. We thus developed 2-Way Fit™ technology to ensure the perfect compatibility of our tubeless wheels even with normal clinchers and inner tubes. 2-Way Fit™ wheels are perfectly multi-purpose to deal with any situation.

Thanks to a special indentation in the valve area, tubes are fitted with maximum precision, keeping the tube perfectly stable inside the clincher. The valve for tubeless tyres is also accommodated without risk, with the undoubted advantage that there is never any air infiltration due to sub-optimal positioning during assembly.

DRSC™ - Directionated Rim-Spoke Coupling
The exclusive rim/spoke coupling system makes it possible to align the rim, spokes, nipples and hub by distributing the same amount of tension at each point, thus eliminating the most critical areas.

Momag™
What is the MoMag™?
A magnet and a lot of ingenuity. This is how the patent for the proven 'Mounting Magnet' system was born.

The nipples, once inserted inside the rim via the valve hole, are 'guided' to the point of engagement with the spoke by means of the magnet. Thanks to this simple trick, it is possible to obtain a wheel without holes on the upper bridge, but with spokes tensioned by traditional nipples!

The absence of holes on the rim is also synonymous with a product that is homogeneous throughout, free of critical points or areas of failure. In fact, for clincher profiles, the use of Rim Tape is no longer necessary. The advantages are immediately perceptible: less weight, longer rim life, greater resistance to fatigue, the possibility of greater tensioning of the spokes and greater rigidity which, in terms of performance, mean more reactivity and acceleration.

Anti-Rotation System™
This new system dedicated to road bike wheels takes the concept of spoking to a new level of performance.
In fact, Fulcrum® engineers have redesigned the spokes and hub seats to create a solid and immovable whole. In this way the spokes

a) never lose their initial tension, thus keeping the wheel perfectly reactive and centred;
b) remain in the position studied in the wind tunnel to ensure the best possible aerodynamic penetration.

Traceability
A guarantee of quality.
The key word for our products is: traceability.

All Fulcrum® wheels of any type (for racing bikes, MTBs or cyclocross bikes) come with a small label. Do not remove it: it is essential to give you the guarantee that, in the event of an ascertained defect in a production batch, your component or your wheel will be traceable.

All this because Fulcrum®, true to its mission, demands absolute perfection for its product and safety for its customer.

AFS Axle System™
The Axial Fixing System™ is the solution developed by Fulcrum® for fixing the disc brake to the hub. The constraint conferred by the fixing surface, which is greater than in the already known standards, allows for greater structural rigidity and therefore more precise and powerful braking.

The availability of the International Standard option, however, ensures full compatibility of Fulcrum® wheels even with the most widespread braking systems that adopt this mounting plan.

Rim full carbon technology
For the construction of Fulcrum® full carbon rims, laboratory-studied combinations of different types of fibre are used, including unidirectional and the famous 90 degree 3K that finishes the models at the top of our range.
For their construction, a special HTG ('high transition grade') resin was developed that has a glass transition threshold at higher temperatures than any other fibre used in the cycle industry.
This enables incomparable braking performance.

The refinement of Fulcrum® carbon constructions can also be seen in the machining: the rim comes out of the mould already with the holes for the nipples, thus avoiding any subsequent drilling, and no polishing is required to make it aesthetically impeccable and technically ready to be fitted.

Wide Rim Tech
The Fulcrum® R&D department, following requests from the race courses, has worked to create rims that are about 4 mm wider than in the past.
This technical choice makes it possible to offer the ideal base for 25/28mm tyres, the preferred size nowadays. This ensures stability, excellent handling and superior comfort.

Everyone agrees that better comfort on the bike equals less physical and mental fatigue, thus enabling better performance and results.
The larger tyre footprint creates a better and more stable footing, while the shape created by the tyre and rim junction creates a smooth and stable air flow, ultimately more aerodynamic, thus reducing friction.

Undrilled Rim Bed
The absence of holes in the upper deck is synonymous with a product that is homogeneous throughout, free of critical points subject to stress.
The advantages are immediately perceptible: less weight, longer rim life, greater resistance to fatigue, the possibility to tension the spokes more and greater stiffness which, in terms of performance, means more reactivity and acceleration.
