Fulcrum Wind 40C C17 Rim wheelset

Allround as the guiding thread, performance as the ideal definition for Wind 40: a set of racing wheels designed for everyday rides, on all roads, whether training or a Gran Fondo with the group you usually ride with.

Its 40 mm profile, full carbon - unidirectional, will do itself credit by offering what is needed: aerodynamic and stable on long flat stretches, light and agile in picking up the pace on climbs, decisive and manoeuvrable on more technical descents. The balance and tuning between your racing bike and Wind 40 will be immediate: you mount it and begin to discover a new level of performance.

To achieve this goal, the Fulcrum R&D department has combined several of the most appreciated technologies available: the full carbon rim - unidirectional, it is constructed without holes for nipple passage, hence Mo-Mag™, guaranteeing maximum stiffness and reliability.

It promises braking like never before thanks to AC3™ laser treatment on the braking track: laser processing makes it possible to eliminate traces of resin from the contact surface with the pads with unprecedented precision, improving behaviour in all conditions by up to 30% in the most complicated situations, in the rain.

To transfer all the power in acceleration we instead find the oversize flange on the cassette side, with the aero spokes arranged according to the Two-to-one™ scheme. Wind 40 is like this: technology, performance, substance, but in the end it will completely change the character of your racing bike.

Technologies

RDB™ Rim Dynamic Balance
The concept is as simple as it is ingenious: balance the mass of the rim joint with a mass of equal value positioned on the exact opposite side.

2:1 Two-To-One™
When you push on the pedals, the rotation of the sprocket set causes a loosening of the freewheel spokes with a consequent loss of rim tension, regardless of the type of wheel: racing, MTB, cyclocross or triathlon.
This results in excessive flexing of the assembly and inevitable energy loss. Fulcrum® has solved this classic cycling problem with its 2:1 Two-to-One™ Spoke Ratio patent, i.e. by doubling the spokes in the critical zones.

DRSC™ - Directionated Rim-Spoke Coupling
The exclusive rim/spoke coupling system allows the rim, spokes, nipples and hub to be aligned by distributing the same amount of tension at each point, thus eliminating the most critical areas.

Momag™
What is the MoMag™? A magnet and a lot of ingenuity. This is how the patent for the proven 'Mounting Magnet' system was born. The nipples, once inserted inside the rim via the valve hole, are 'guided' to the point of engagement with the spoke by the magnet. Thanks to this simple trick, it is possible to obtain a wheel without holes on the upper bridge, but with spokes tensioned by traditional nipples!

Anti-Rotation System™
This new system dedicated to road bike wheels takes the concept of spoking to a new level of performance.
In fact, Fulcrum® engineers have redesigned the spokes and hub seats to create a solid and immovable whole. In this way the spokes

a) never lose their initial tension, thus keeping the wheel perfectly reactive and centred;
b) remain in the position studied in the wind tunnel to ensure the best possible aerodynamic penetration.

F.I.C. Fulcrum identification card - 100% handmade quality
Since its inception, Fulcrum has been distinguished by a characteristic that continues to this day: designing, prototyping, and industrialising all types of wheels marked with a red "F", whether they are wheels for racing bikes, MTB wheels, cyclocross wheels, or for triathlon competitions. These, in fact, take shape within the innovative R&D, the advanced department that is the beating heart of the Italian company. Every single component of the wheels, the materials chosen and the technologies applied are the tangible result of the effort Fulcrum® makes every day to give you maximum performance and reliability.

Traceability - A guarantee of quality
The key word for Fulcrum products is: traceability. All Fulcrum® wheels of any type (for racing bikes, MTBs, or cyclocross bikes) have a small label. Do not remove it: it is essential to give you the guarantee that, in the event of an ascertained defect in a production batch, your component or your wheel will be traceable. All this because Fulcrum®, true to its mission, demands absolute perfection for its product and safety for its customer.

AC3™ - All conditions carbon control
For years, braking on carbon rims has been the subject of studies and technical updates, which have followed the progress made in research on materials and finishing processes. AC3™ is a further step forward in this direction, and will allow amazing braking especially in difficult conditions, when improvements become the basis for a different way of riding the bike. Fulcrum's R&D department has chosen to change the approach to machining the braking track, moving from a mechanical process to one that exploits laser micro-incisions on the surface to eliminate resins and perfect roughness. In this way, braking directly exploits the contact of the pad on the fibre: grip improves and water and humidity are drained from the surface, allowing it to work immediately in ideal conditions and therefore to express its best. Confidence and power increase, while maintaining excellent modulability: it has been calculated in laboratory tests that the greater power impressed allows a 6% improvement in braking capacity in dry conditions compared to the previous ones. In the wet, the difference is striking: capacity increases by 43%, assimilating the spaces to those in dry conditions. All the attention will be devoted to choosing the ideal line and without smearing, brushing every hairpin bend.
