As many as 7 versions of the rim were tested in different combinations with the aim of achieving the best performance in terms of aerodynamics, rolling resistance, lightness and drivability, without compromising safety.
The graphics have also been revamped to reflect the new Form Function Fulcrum brand identity, characterised by an essential yet refined design.
New, more performing and safer rims
The new Speed wheels are available in two versions, with 42 mm and 57 mm profiles that replace the previous 40 mm and 55 mm ones, while the width of the channel increases from 19 mm to 23 mm; the rim nose is also widened with a 9.5 mm radius.
The new rims offer an uncompromising performance combination of aerodynamic penetration, rolling resistance and comfort.
Not only increased performance but also safety thanks to the MOMAG assembly technology that makes it possible to have a native 2-WAY FIT™ Tubeless rim, without the need for any sealing tape.
What's more, the absence of holes in the rim channel allows the same rigidity to be maintained all around the perimeter, also offering greater resistance to impacts.
The challenge of the spokes
The challenge was this: how to avoid energy dispersion? The answer was the use of 24 aerodynamic flat spokes designed specifically for this wheel and laced using the Two-to-One™ system, which involves doubling the spokes in the areas subject to the greatest mechanical stress.
The front wheel therefore has 16 spokes on the disc side and 8 on the other side, while the rear wheel is constructed in the opposite manner to counteract the forces developed by the drivetrain. This specific construction, combined with the perfect tensioning of the spokes, gives the wheel a torsional rigidity that enables maximum force transfer.
Redesigned hubs
The novelties also concern the hubs, which have been completely redesigned to accommodate a freewheel mechanism that is more precise than the previous one while reducing weight.
The bearings used for the Fulcrum Speed 42 and 57 are of the cone-cup type and use the USB™ (Ceramic Ultra Smooth Bearings) system with ceramic balls, which guarantees unparalleled smoothness.
The freewheel rack has been reinforced and oversized and now houses 36 teeth. The wheel is available in configurations with Campagnolo N3W, Shimano HG and Sram XDR bodies.
All these innovations have a single objective: to convey the perfect riding sensation that can only come from the balance between lightness, drivability and aerodynamics.

Technologies
2-Way™ Fit
Tubeless technology was adopted in the automotive sector, then in the motorbike sector and finally in cycling. After its debut in mountain biking, it's time to "put it on the road": and that's what Fulcrum offers. It has developed 2-Way Fit™ technology to ensure the perfect compatibility of their tubeless wheels even with normal clinchers and inner tubes. 2-Way Fit™ wheels are perfectly multipurpose for tackling any situation. Thanks to a special indentation in the valve area, the tubes are fitted with maximum precision, keeping the tube perfectly stable inside the clincher. The valve for tubeless tyres is also accommodated without risk, with the undoubted advantage that there is never any air infiltration due to sub-optimal positioning during assembly. The advantages are clear: various tests have shown an unprecedented increase in smoothness. As there is no inner tube, friction due to friction with the tyre is eliminated and the perfect adherence of the tyre on the rim avoids energy losses. A tubeless tyre does not suffer from sudden deflation in the event of a puncture, so that's a nice safety advantage. No risk of pinching, then, because there is no inner tube to break.

Fulcrum® has always been recognised for the extremely high performance of its hubs in terms of smoothness and reliability.
This is because all projects are developed in-house in the Fulcrum® R&D department and every detail is taken care of with obsessive attention. Hubs equipped with USB™ ceramic bearings (Ultra Smooth Bearings) further enhance the wheels' smoothness and reduce weight and maintenance, making your racing bike wheels faithful allies.
Undrilled rim bed
The absence of holes in the upper deck means a product that is homogeneous throughout, free of critical points subject to stress. The advantages are immediately perceivable: less weight, longer rim life, greater resistance to fatigue, the possibility of tensioning the spokes more and greater stiffness which, in terms of performance, mean more reactivity and acceleration.
