There are many ways of interpreting something that - far from being a new trend enjoyed by the few - has become a different way of enjoying cycling chosen by many. For some, it represents a new way of putting themselves to the test, while for others, it is an alternative choice that offers a world of new possibilities. B-Road or "gravel" bikes are all this and more, and the Rapid Red 5 DB wheel has been designed and developed by Fulcrum for this kind of riding. Whilst developing the Rapid Red 5 DB, Fulcrum's R&D department has brought together all the experience and technical expertise gained while creating racing bike wheels, drawing on this to design a model for use on surfaces other than tarmac.

Unpaved roads, paths and dirt tracks call for a wider inner channel - 23 mm in this instance - with a low, ultra-resistant 24 mm rim, to cushion blows and deliver superb ride comfort, regardless of the stresses to which it is exposed.
The profile of the wheel enables tubeless ready tyres of between 30 and 46 mm to be fitted, with an extensive range of set-ups that can be adjusted in accordance with the type of tracks to be ridden. The 24 straight-head spokes are supported by a solid aluminium hub, ideal for tackling rough terrain and for taking the slightly higher weights of a bike that is ready to go on a journey.

F.I.C. Fulcrum Identification Card - 100% handmade quality
Right from its inception Fulcrum® has been marked by feature that continues to this day: that is to design, prototype and industrialise all the wheels characterised by the red “F”. Indeed these take shape inside of the R&D, the leading-edge department that represents the beating heart of the Italian company.Every single component of the wheel, the materials chosen and the technologies applied are the tangible result of the effort that Fulcrum® makes every day to give you maximum performance and reliability. To ensure the best performance and reliability of its products, each project, before going in the production stage, must submitted to a series of severe tests that validate what has been conceived and designed up to that moment (fatigue test, crash test, tyre burst test, enviroment test, 100% manually assembled and electronically checked). This is why, from its 2012 range, Fulcrum® wanted to supply each wheel with its own Identity Card (F.I.C.) which uniquely identifies the wheel and certifies that it has been manually assembled and has passed all tests required by the strict quality protocol.

Traceability
The keyword for Fulcrum products is: traceable. If you find a little label attached to any Fulcrum® product, do not remove it. It will provide you a guarantee in case of an ascertained defectiveness of a production batch, and so the component needed or wheel will be traceable. All this because, devoted to its mission, Fulcrum® demands the absolute perfection and safety for its customers.

AFS Axle System™
The Axial Fixing System™ is the solution developed by Fulcrum® to fix the disc brake to the hub. The constraint granted by the butt area of the release mechanism, greater than in familiar standard ones, makes it possible to obtain greater structural rigidity and therefore more precise and powerful braking. The availability of the International Standard option ensures full compatibility of Fulcrum® wheels even with the most widespread braking systems that use this assembly plan.

2-WAY FIT™ READY (road)
It shall be the end user’s sole and full responsibility to choose - on a case by case basis – an adequate and correct rim-tire-pressure combination, as well as to conduct all verifications neces-sary to ascertain the correctness and safety of such combination. Without prejudice to the above, and in order to ensure optimum rolling resistance, grip and, most importantly, safety, we recommend that the end user, in making his choice, also takes into consideration the recommended combinations of hooked rim width, tire width and tire pressure indicated in the chart set forth below. Due to safety reasons, follow the information of the tire manufacturer regarding minimum and maximum rim width to be used but always ensure that the combination is listed as possible in this table. Please follow the specific fitting procedure here below: This procedure transforms Racing 4/5/6/7 DB and Racing 400/500/600/700/800/900 DB wheels (designed to be used with a clincher tyre and inner tube) intoTubeless Ready wheels (i.e. with a Tubeless Easy tyre, no inner tube and compulsory use of a sealant liquid). To ensure the correct transformation of the wheels, it is obligatory to respect the procedure explained below. Use of tubeless and tubeless ready tyres is forbidden on 2-way Fit Ready rims without official Fulcrum 2-way Fit Ready adhesive tape.
