DT Swiss GR 1600 Spline 25 Disc 27,5" wheels 2024

Leave the tarmac behind and experience the thrill of off-road cycling with GR 1600 SPLINE wheels!

Whether you are venturing into the world of bikepacking or simply planning a fast off-road ride, you will appreciate the agility offered by the combination of its components. The premium alloy of the welded rim offers the ideal mix of lightness and strength. In addition, thanks to the 350 hub and the Ratchet system, which features quicker engagement than its predecessor, you can tackle off-road riding with confidence.

Rim
The premium welded aluminium rim has an inner width of 24 mm and is available in two different sizes designed to fit tyres with tread up to 53 mm.

Spokes
The large centre section of the DT aero comp® straightpull spokes is cold-forged, making it lighter and stronger. The spoke is then shaped into a blade-like profile that optimises aerodynamics and increases the strength of the material.

Hub
The 350 road hub is the result of our no-tool concept, which makes it easier to intervene during longer tours.

Freewheel body
The Ratchet 36 SL system guarantees reliable power transmission for safe off-road riding.

Technologies

Rachet
The simultaneous engagement of the sprocket teeth on a large contact surface distributes loads evenly for exceptional reliability. The modularity of the hub allows easy adjustment of the engagement angle and the corresponding freewheel body. The Ratchet LN system allows pawl hubs to be upgraded to Ratchet systems. To make the conversion from the pawl freewheel system to the Ratchet LN freewheel system possible, the seal of the freewheel system is positioned on the freewheel body and not on the hub body as on other Ratchet systems.

Tubeless
Tubeless tyres have several advantages over the traditional combination of tube and clincher: the tyre can be inflated to lower pressure levels, without risking pinching (so-called 'snakebite' punctures) and providing superior grip. The lower pressure offers greater comfort in the saddle and the absence of a chamber eliminates friction between the chamber and the tyre, resulting in less rolling resistance on terrain and obstacles. The use of a tubeless sealing fluid enables the tyre to self-seal punctures and small cuts. A great advantage for all those who like to ride for a long time and who, in the event of a problem, would find themselves several kilometres away from the nearest repair shop.

Bearings
DT Swiss hubs are designed to function optimally once fitted to the bike. To this end, the tightening torque generated by the wheel mounting system must be taken into account when manufacturing the hubs. Find out how to ensure the optimum rotating capacity of ball bearings and why DT Swiss does not produce hubs with adjustable bearing clearance.

Spokes
The creation of high-quality spokes marked the beginning of the company. DT was the synonym for high-quality Swiss spokes even before the founding of today's DT Swiss AG Today, DT Swiss spokes are synonymous with durability and precision and, thanks to their exclusive manufacturing process, offer an unrivalled combination of lightness and stability.

Proven hand assembly
DT Swiss has chosen not to use machines for wheel assembly because it believes in the added value of experience. In fact, compared to hand assembly, commercially available assembly machines are by no means able to assemble a wheel of the same quality and in the same time. This is because many factors come into play in the centring of a wheel, which can vary from one wheel to another. People experience these differences over the years, at which point they are able to distinguish and act accordingly. Another advantage offered by hand assembly is flexibility. DT Swiss wheels are decompressed several times on each side during the assembly process until the changes in lateral and vertical deflections and spoke tension are within the desired tolerance values. In mechanised production, these intermediate steps would lead to retooling work during construction, which again would negate the advantages of mechanised production. Therefore, these steps are often omitted in mechanised production, but are crucial for quality.
