Mavic Cosmic SLR 32 Carbon UST Disc rear wheel

With a new, lighter weight 32mm carbon rim and easier to use Road Tubeless technology, this superlight disc-brake wheel is an instant performance boost

When you’re gunning for the KOM on the toughest mountain climbs, nothing gives you more of a boost than a light and snappy carbon wheelset. This newcomer in the Cosmic family takes over the venerable Ksyrium Pro Carbon SL Disc. It features a reengineered carbon rim that’s the lightest in its category. Its 32mm airfoil shape slices through wind, and because the rim is made specifically for disc brakes, you’ll have more confidence and control on the descents.
The rim is crafted with a new laminate and our exclusive Fore Carbon technology that leaves the upper rim bridge intact and reinforces the rim only where needed. This saves 40g per wheel. The spokes attach to the rim without any need to drill the upper rim bed, so no rim tape is required. That means more weight savings (30g per wheel) and less hassle. The new shape of the rim bed makes it easier than ever to mount and remove tires, and you get super low rolling resistance with Mavic's UST Tubeless setup. No tube means no friction, and more air volume means a smoother, faster ride. It also uses the patented elliptical spokes to save another 5 watts and make you faster.
Mavic's new Infinity hub platform optimizes spoke lacing for efficient power transfer through highly controlled spoke tension. The Instant Drive 360 freewheel, coupled with automatic bearing preload adjustment (QRM Auto), provides fast engagement, high stiffness and added durability. It's available for Shimano and SRAM XD-Road and can convert to Campagnolo with an optional driver body. It's compatible with 12x100 axle up front, 12x142 rear, and you can convert to Quick Release with the supplied adapters. For Center Lock disc rotors only.
These wheels are designed, engineered and patented by Mavic in Annecy, France, and are 100% handmade in Mavic's European carbon factory.

Technologies

Fore Carbon tapeless tubeless technology
Stiffer and stronger. Instead of drilling the rim to attach the spokes and nipples, a threaded metallic insert is wrapped inside the carbon layups of the lower rim bridge to enable the spoke nipples to be directly screwed in it. As a result, the upper rim bridge is left undrilled and doesn't require the use of a rim tape to be sealed.

Instant Drive 360 freewheel technology
The new Instant Drive 360 freewheel system is super light and fast to engage with only 9°. A large contactless rubber seal provides low friction, while a wide array of end caps makes it super versatile.

UST tubeless technology
Traction and control. Universal Standard for Tubeless. Ready to ride tubeless system. The UST concept improves traction, control and comfort whilst reducing inertia and flats.

QRM Auto bearing preload technology
Qualité de Roulements Mavic Auto. The latest innovation from the french brand. Those cartridge bearings are of course double sealed with C3 internal clearance. Their preload is automatically adjusted to guarantee a perfect spin with no play on the long run.
